Commercial traffic of the Tunisian ports increased by 4% in 2014 with a total trade increased from 28.032 million tons in 2013 to 29.022 million in 2014.
The port of Rades is the first for the traffic trade (6.3 million tons), followed by Bizerte (5.6 million tons), Sfax (4.7 million tons) and Gabes (2.7 million tons).
Container traffic experienced in 2014 a slight increase of 1% to 467 thousand units compared to 464 thousand units in 2013. The cruise business in 2014 recorded a significant decline with a loss of 14% of tourist arrivals (441,000) compared to 2013 (515,000). The number of cruise ships decreased by 13% with 179 ships in 2014 against 206 in 2013.
