Spanish ports: investment for 862 million euro
In Spain, the General State Budget for 2015 includes 862 million euro investment in national ports, an increase of 10% compared to the budget for 2013. Some of the most significant projects planned for 2015 consist of the new port facilities at Punta Langosteira in the port of La Coruna, the improvement of the roads and the expansion of the Port of Barcelona, the improvement of  access to the sea-river port of Seville, the protection works in the port of Granadilla in Tenerife, the new dock Esfinge in the port of Las Palmas, the enlargement in the area of Isla Verde Exterior of the port of Algeciras and the improvement of rail access to the port of Tarragona. To this is added € 35 million allocated by the government agency Puertos del Estado for the ports of Gijon and La Coruña.
In particular, the port of Barcelona maintains a high rate of investment, with infrastructure projects and expansions in progress for a total of 700 million euro, of which over 60% – 430 million euro – by private initiatives and about 40 % – 270 million euro – promoted by the Port Authority and the Ministry of Infrastructure.
