NEWS: Spanish ports, goods traffic grew

In the first quarter of 2014 the Spanish ports handled a total of 148.6 million tons of cargo, an increase of 5.1% compared to the same period last year. The various goods amounted to 70.6 million tons (+2.8%), of which 50.3 million tons of containerized cargo (+1.4%) and 20.3 million tons of conventional cargo ( +6.5%). The volume of the cargo grew by +12.7% to 27.3 million tons and that of liquid bulk cargo increased by 4.7% to 50.7 million tonnes.

Passenger traffic has been more than 7.1 million units (+4.5%), of which 5.1 million ferry passengers (+0.7%) and 2.0 million cruise passengers (+15, 4%). (www.puertos.es)
