Last year the total volume of goods handled by Spanish ports have been 445.4 million tons, recording a contraction of 3.4% on 2012. Liquid bulk amounted to 151.81 million tons (-1.03%), dry bulk 80.23 million(-9,3%) and general cargo 213.31 million (-2.64%).

In 2013 Spanish ports handled 13.89 million teus (-1.3% on 2012), of which 4.34 million from Algeciras that has passed Valencia (4.33 million teus) and has taken a leading position in the Mediterranean.
