In the first quarter of this year the traffic of goods handled by the port of Taranto increased by 10.1% since it was 6.8 million tonnes, compared with more than 6.1 million tonnes in the corresponding period of 2013. The landing goods amounted to 3.8 million tons (-1.5%) and those boarding at 3.0 million tons (+29.2%).

In the segment of cargo traffic was a total of 2.1 million tons (+45%), of which 379mila tons of containerized cargo (-5.5%) with a container handling amounted to 41 549 TEUs ( -3%) and 1.8 million tonnes of other cargo (+63.7%). The volume of the cargo grew by +5.8% to 3.8 million tonnes, while that of liquid bulk decreased by 23.4% to 827mila tons.
