On 11 September, the European Commission published the first announcement of the “Connecting Europe Facility” for projects on mobility and transport. The notice provides 11.93 of the 26 billion euro total for the period 2014-2020 to modernize transport infrastructure, build missing links and remove bottlenecks.
This is the largest amount ever paid by the European Union for transport.
Member States should submit their proposals by February 26, 2015, providing for a national co-financing.
The results of the tenders and award of projects will be announced in the summer of 2015.
The call is handled by INEA (European Agency for Innovation and Networks), an operating entity of the European Commission, and the Directorate-General for Transport.
