In December 2014 the port of Tanger Med handled the container number 3 million since the beginning of this year by establishing its own new record of annual container traffic. This is an increase of 20% from 2.55 million TEUs of containers totaled in 2013 and a new record achieved overcoming the operational capacity of the port which is precisely equal to 3 million TEUs per year.In 2014 TangerMed have landed 2,100 ships, of which 800 arrived at the terminal operated by APM Terminals of the Danish shipping group AP Moller-Maersk and 1300 at the terminal run by the German Eurogate, with increases of +11% and +34% on 2013.

The Tanger Med Port Authority (TMPA) has shown that these exceptional performance and the continued growth in traffic corroborating the prospects for further future development that will be made possible by the new port area Tanger Med II.
