In the first ten months of 2014 the total freight traffic at Chinese ports amounted to nearly 9.3 billion tons, with an increase of 4.6% compared to 8.8 billion tons in the same period of the last year. The seaports traffic was 6.4 billion tons (+5.6%) and the river ports /inland traffic was 2.8 billion tons (+2.3%). The container traffic through ports of China amounted to 166.5 million TEUs, with an increase of 6.0% compared to 156.9 million TEUs in the corresponding period of 2013. The seaports have handled 149.9 million TEUs (+ 6.9%) and inland ports 16.7 million TEUs (-1.0%).
