Abu Dhabi Ports announces concession agreement with Cosco Shipping Ports

COSCO SHIPPING Ports (CSP) has committed to a long term lease under which the company will develop and run the second container terminal (KPCT-2) at Khalifa Seaport in the United Arab Emirates. CSP and Abu Dhabi Ports (ADP) will establish a joint venture to operate the new  terminal under a 35-year concession. KPCT-2 will provide a 1,200 m quay wall with a depth alongside of 18 m. The first 800 metres of the quay are expected to commence operations in the first half of 2018.The later 400-metre expansion is expected to come on stream in 2020.The second container terminal will add 2.40 Mteu to the port’s existing capacity of 2.50 Mteu.
