NEWS: Plans for new Suez terminals
The Red Sea Ports Authority (RSPA) has announced plans to build a cargo terminal in Port Tawfik and a grain facility in Adabiya, Daily News Egypt (DNE) has reported. Both projects, unveiled by Transportation Minister Ibrahim El-Demeiry, aim at stimulating domestic and foreign investment opportunities.
The cargo terminal at Port Tawfik, at the Red Sea entrance of the Suez Canal, will be designed to accommodate medium-sized ships and to increase the port’s annual capacity to 1.5 million tonnes. The wheat storage facility in Adabiya, 20km south of Suez, is expected to have a capacity of 2.5 million tonnes.
