Last year the total traffic of goods handled by the port of Taranto has decreased by 2.2% down to just over 27.8 million tonnes compared to 28.5 million tons in 2013. The goods landing were down (-5.8%) to 16.3 million tons, while those boarding increased by + 3.3% to 11.5 million tons.
The dry bulk totaled 16.0 million tons, down 3.9% on the previous year. Milder (-0.6%) contraction in the volume of liquid bulk, which totaled 4.1 million tons.
In the area of general cargo traffic was 7.7 million tons (+0.6%), of which 1.7 million tonnes of containerized cargo (-1.8%) totaled with a container handling of 148,519 TEU (-24.7%) and 6 million tonnes of other cargo (+1.4%).
